Carpool Ride Match
Peck Center Carpool Ride Match
This volunteer-based program connects riders and drivers for transportation to and from the Peck Center (281 County Rd, Barrington, RI 02806).
Why Carpool?
Sharing a ride helps with the Peck Center's limited parking, saves money on gas, and cuts down on traffic during busy times. Just as important, it’s a great way to connect with neighbors, build community, and make the trip to and from the Peck Center more enjoyable. A small change, with big benefits for riders, drivers, and the Center as a whole.
Important: The Peck Center provides the information-sharing platform only. Drivers and riders arrange rides directly with each other (the Peck Center does not schedule, dispatch, or assign rides).
Overview
If you need a ride
- Submit the rider request form (click the blue "I need a Ride button above to get to the form). Rider information is updated every Friday Afternoon.
- Your address is not publicly listed, instead your request is listed by zone for privacy.
- Volunteer drivers contact you by phone or email to get your exact pickup location as well as to confirm the ride.
- If you no longer need or are unable to make a scheduled ride, please call and inform the volunteer driver as soon as you are able.
If you can give a ride
- Click the "I Can Give a Ride" green button above.
- Filter riders by the zone(s) you’re willing to pickup from.
- Depending on the vehicle you drive, you may not be able to accommodate individuals with mobility equipment (e.g. un-collapsible wheelchairs).
- Call a rider (or use email if that is their preferred contact method) to coordinate timing and a meeting location.
Privacy & What to Expect
- Addresses are not posted publicly. Drivers and riders choose a meeting spot during their call/email.
- Contact details are shared with volunteer drivers so they can reach you directly.
For Riders
The rider form asks for your zone code, preferred contact method, and weekday pickup/return time windows. You can also note mobility considerations, so drivers understand what support is needed.
- Update your schedule: submit a new form anytime your days/times change.
- Stop receiving calls/emails: submit the form with just your first and last name (leave all other fields blank).
- Urgent needs: please call the Peck Center directly: 401-247-1926 Ext. 202
For Volunteer Drivers
- You’ll see rider requests listed by zone and availability.
- You coordinate ride details directly with the rider (pickup timing and meeting location).
- Volunteer driving is typically covered under standard personal auto insurance (drivers should confirm with their insurer).
