Earth and Arbor Month
Tree City USA named the Town of Barrington one of 15 “Tree Cities” in Rhode Island, a program that stresses the importance of maintaining and planting new public trees.

The Town Council will issue a proclamation designating Friday, April 25th as “Arbor Day.” Let’s work together toward a more sustainable planet!

Saturday, April 5th – Earth Month 2025 Rain Barrel Workshop
283 County Road, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM Sponsored by Eastern Rhode Island Conservation District (ERICD). Workshop is $55 and includes rain barrel materials and installation kit. Rain date is Sunday, April 6th.

Barrington Public Library (Salem Family Auditorium, 2nd Floor), 1:00 to 3:00 PM This event is a collaboration with Barrington Public Library and the Barrington Land Conservation Trust (BLCT) . The event is free, but registration is required.

Monday, April 21st – Earth Day Litter Cleanup Event
Volunteers are needed for the Community Litter-Free Rhode Island Cleanup event taking place on Monday, April 22nd at 5:00 PM. The first 25 volunteers will receive a T-shirt. Gloves, trash bags, and pickers will be provided, and Kona Ice will be giving out free servings. For more information, contact Kelly Marcu at kmarcu@barrington.ri.gov or call (401) 247-1900.

Barrington Public Library (Residential Properties Room, 2nd Floor), 10:00 to 11:00 AM This tech class, organized by Kyle Sousa, is focused on library resources for Earth Day, a day dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation for the environment. Registration opens at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 8th.
Tuesday, April 22nd - Container Garden Tips, Tricks, and Trade Secrets
Barrington Public Library (Salem Family Auditorium, 2nd Floor), 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Join the Barrington Garden Club for this informative lecture on container gardening by Deborah Trickett, owner of The Captured Garden. Registration required only for non-Garden Club members. Free and open to all.
