The Human Resource Department of the Town of Barrington is responsible for all aspects of Personnel Management. The Town of Barrington is seeking an experienced leader for the position of Director of Public Works.This position is responsible for management of the daily activities of a productive department that includes 26 FTE’s and several seasonal FTE’s. The department maintains approximately 110 miles of roads, operates two wastewater treatment plans and cares for several parks, opens spaces, and public facilities.
The Director will perform engineering work in the wastewater collection and pumping station analysis as well as engineering planning and design projects.
The successful candidate possesses integrity, exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven ability to foster a positive work environment. Candidates must possess a minimum of five years municipal public works experience, site development experience, wastewater operation services, sound budgeting abilities, strong communication skills and experience in a union environment. A bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering is preferred. Director must be available at all hours as needed to deal with emergency or special situations.
